Teaching Gifted Learners

Who are gifted students and how can we best engage them in learning?

This seminar-style course will challenge students to engage with these questions through group discussion and making practical applications of key course concepts to both general and special education settings. Readings from the field of gifted education selected for their quality and educational merit will serve as the basis for understanding how others have answered the two introductory questions – and be the source from which students will begin to formulate their own responses.

This course will specifically explore topics ranging from theoretical conceptualizations that attempt to define ‘giftedness’ as a construct to applied knowledge intended to be immediately actionable for teachers.
