Music Fundamentals

This course is a concise introduction to the fundamental elements of music theory and practice. It aims to develop intellectual and practical fluency with musical concepts and skills, with an emphasis on reading and writing musical notation (pitch and rhythm). Course topics include pitch, rhythm and meter, major and minor scales, intervals, triads and seventh chords, and a preliminary look at the fundamentals of harmony. Students will also learn elementary keyboard orientation, listening and sight-singing skills.
