Experiences Hear From The Community

JoAna Miller

One of the most meaningful things about my time at Faith Builders has been the staff. There is always a staff person willing to listen, to lead an independent study, to give feedback on an assignment. But even more than all the good conversations, they really model what they teach. I am grateful for the ways they’ve pushed me further in my faith and in my academic growth.

One of my favorite parts of the Faith Builders experience has been the endless opportunities for enriching and challenging discussions. I have been part of incredible conversations in the cafeteria, the study room, an instructor’s office, or even my own dorm pod. In each of these I have learned, grown, or been challenged in my relationships with the people around me, my own worldview, and my relationship with God.

Faith Builders prepared me beyond expectation for continuing my college journey. My current college accepted a majority of my credits from Faith Builders. This means that I only had two more years to achieve my bachelors degree. In addition to transfer credit, instructors at Faith Builders placed high importance on excellence in academic writing which prepared me well.

The mentoring program was monumental. Few things are as powerful as knowing and being fully known by a small group of ladies who seek the Lord. I learned skills such as conflict resolution, accepting positive criticism, and active listening.

The course Reading and Teaching Bible and my Senior Project on the Book of Matthew has significantly changed how I approach the Bible. The staff at Faith Builders were instrumental in this transformation, whether in the classroom or during lunch conversations. What sets Faith Builders apart is their commitment to helping people grow in their faith.
