Programs of Study
Students
Most students are enrolled in a two-year course of study that has been carefully planned to encourage spiritual, mental and skills development.
Non-program students are enrolled for one or more terms without a prescribed course of study. They have greater freedom to pick and choose classes. They typically do not participate in apprenticing. Non-program students may not take more than 6 credit hours per semester.
People who wish to study at Faith Builders have the following options:
- Enroll in a two-year track of study – Teacher Apprenticing (TAP), Christian Ministries, or General Studies.
- Enroll as a non-program student in Fall and Spring Terms – For people who wish to take classes for one or more terms without planning to complete a track of study. Mentoring is a required course for any student taking over 6 hours.
- Enroll as a non-program student in the Winter or Summer Short Terms – For people who wish to take classes offered in five-week terms. The Winter Short Term specializes in Bible, theology, discipleship, and music courses. The Summer Short Term focuses on courses of interest to K-12 educators and general education students.

Teacher Apprenticing
For those desiring to be equipped as teachers, Faith Builders offers a two-year Teacher Apprenticing Program (TAP). This track is designed to accommodate the introductory level needs of students preparing to teach in Mennonite, inner city, mission or other church schools. Students in the Teacher Apprenticing track can select from three concentrations: 1) Elementary, 2) Secondary, or 3) Administration. A concentration in TAP indicates the area of apprenticing and the focus of the senior project rather than a concentration in course work.
General Studies
The General Studies track is designed for those students who want to spend two years at FB in preparation for further education. It is designed to equip students to navigate college successfully. Students in this track focus on courses that are transferable to other educational institutions. Apprenticing in the General Studies track is similar to that in Christian Ministries. In addition, this track requires a number of specialized educational opportunities in preparation for college.
Christian Ministries
The Christian Ministries track is designed to prepare students to return to their home communities prepared to serve with both zeal and vision as well as to move on to specialized areas of service in other parts of the world. We want students to emerge with skills, knowledge, and experience for effective service, whether ministering to the spiritual or material needs of people, whether living at home or in a foreign land, whether working as a mechanic or as a career missionary. Students in the Christian Ministries track can select from three concentrations: 1) Bible, 2) Discipleship, and 3) Music. Students take four to six courses in their area of concentration. They also do an internship at an existing ministry to gain practical experience in the area of their concentration. Contact the office for more information about concentration requirements.
